Nikki Sixx ordered to pay child support to Donna D'Errico

California rock music fans may be aware that, in 2008, Nikki Sixx, the bassist of the popular group Motley Crue, divorced his wife Donna D'Errico, the former star of the hit television show "Baywatch". He was ordered to pay $8,200 in child support per month for their daughter Frankie-Jean.

Sixx was also ordered to pay his ex-wife a share of any portion of income he makes over $1.6 million annually. If Sixx's income reaches $10 million, D'Errico's cut will be capped at $252,000 per year.

Prior to their divorce, Sixx and D'errico were together for almost 10 years. Sixx has three other children with his former wife, Brandi Brandt, and is expecting another child with his current wife, Nikki Bingham.

After a family law court awards child support, the person who has been ordered to pay can go back to court later on if there has been a significant adverse change in his or her financial situation. Most judges will not allow a person who has voluntarily quit work to stop paying child support but may consider lowering the amount to be paid if the non-custodial parent can show that he or she has become disabled and can no longer work or has experienced a significant reduction in salary.

In some cases, a judge may consider a child's financial needs when awarding child support, particularly if a child has special medical or educational needs. Usually judges look at the non-custodial parent's income and the child support guidelines when deciding how much child support to award.
