Californians who are fans of Kodak Black might be interested in learning that the rap star was recently ordered to pay $4,200 in monthly child support for his 2-year-old son. The order came after a lengthy court battle between the rapper and the mother in Florida.

According to news sources, the mother claimed that Black earned far more than he had stated. She asked for the court to jail him at one point during the case for his alleged failure to disclose his financial information.

The final order in the case was finally just recently handed down. Black was declared to be the baby’s father, and he was ordered to pay $4,200 per month in child support until his son turns 18. He was also ordered to pay for his son’s medical insurance, including all of his uninsured dental and medical costs.

Child support is designed to provide children with a similar standard of living as what they would have experienced if their parents had stayed together. Both parents are expected to contribute financially to the upbringing of their children. Courts enter child support orders after considering the financial circumstances of both parents as well as what is in the child’s best interests. When an ex refuses to pay child support, the other parent could consult with a family law attorney. The lawyer may be able to get copies of the other parent’s financial information and request that child support is ordered in a fair and reasonable amount. Once a child support order is entered, the noncustodial parent must continue paying it as ordered.
