Representation during a California collaborative divorce

The idea of collaborative divorce may appeal to you because of its flexibility and cost-efficiency. You may wish to work together with your spouse to come to your own solutions instead of bringing the most important issues to court and having them be decided by a judge.

Collaborative divorce operates with the goal of first informing both parties how the process works and determining if it is right for them. After ensuring each person has the support they need from attorneys and other professionals trained in collaborative law, both legal teams will meet and formalize their agreement to commit to the collaborative process. At the first meeting, both teams will identify and prepare for certain issues that may be contentious and issues that may have simpler solutions. Further meetings involve identifying each person's interests, discussing possible resolutions and drafting agreements for court approval as both parties make final decisions about the issues that come up during a divorce.

The attorneys at our firm are committed to helping you reach favorable decisions with your spouse in a timely, cost-effective manner. We will provide you with the support you need at each stage of the process and can advise you before or during meetings with your spouse and his or her legal team and even speak for you during meetings if you are uncomfortable speaking with your spouse or their team.

When you and your spouse can come to an agreement about important issues such as child custody and the division of property, it may make it easier for you to have an amicable relationship after your divorce is final. For information about the services we provide to people in your situation, please see our page on collaborative divorce and an explanation of the process.
