High-profile California custody battle with Louis Tomlinson

Musician Louis Tomlinson, a California resident, has filed for joint custody of the 5-month-old son he had with Briana Jungworth. He is seeking equally divided physical and legal custody of the infant. The existing agreement has not been satisfactory to Tomlinson, who claims that the mother has not been consistent in letting him visit his son. An interim agreement had been reached in February 2016 that allowed him some visitation but which did not include overnight visits.

Reports say that Tomlinson pays Jungwirth approximately $15,000 per month in child support payments, but that figure may change as the case moves to court. Tomlinson is also renting a $1 million home for the mother and child to live in, located in Calabasas, California. Tomlinson has been open about his life as a parent on his Instagram account, posting regular updates with his infant son.

the 24-year-old Tomlinson is best known for his singing career. It is unclear how the decision to allow the custody agreement to be decided in court will affect the terms of his existing arrangement with the mother of his child. In February, it had been reported that the former couple was attempting to come to a permanent decision on their own, but that court intervention would be sought out if they were unable to reach one.

Child custody disputes can often result in conflict between estranged parents. A family law attorney can often assist in negotiating an agreement if mediation does not work. It is important for each spouse to have separate legal representation to ensure that the agreement reached is fair and in the best interests of the child.
