Should I Use the Sacramento Family Law Self-Help Center?

Should a Sacramento family law litigant use the Sacramento Family Law Self-Help Center?  Our general recommendation to any person involved in a Sacramento family law case is to promptly consult with one or more Sacramento family law attorneys instead of relying upon the Sacramento Family Law Self-Help Center.  Most Sacramento family law attorneys offer free or low cost consultations.  In these consultations you will be able to ask important questions about your case and review documents with the consulting attorney.  In addition, you are getting a chance to interview the attorneys to see which one is the best hire for your case.

The Sacramento Family Law Self-Help Center is not staffed by attorneys.  They are unlicensed court employees.  They cannot and should not be giving legal advice.  They may be able to help with simple documentation preparation, but that requires you to know exactly which documents you currently need for your Sacramento family law case (and there are many confusing documents out there).  Also, due to the recent state budget issues, the Sacramento Family Law Self-Help Center has been cutting back on assistance services and/or hours.  Filing improper documents or failing to file required documents can have severe negative consequences for your Sacramento family law case.  Thus, we recommend that you consult with and obtain a divorce attorney instead of relying on the Sacramento Family Self-Help Center for your family law needs.

If you are involved in a Sacramento family law case or have unsuccessfully used the Sacramento Family Law Self-Help Center in the past, please do not hesitate to call us for a free half-hour consultation.  We will discuss your case and the steps we believe you need to undertake to complete your case.  Please contact us today.
