California viewers have seen stars of “The Real Housewives” franchise in their own state go through bitter divorces, including those appearing in the Orange County and Beverly Hills installments. However, two New York stars are the most recent ones to have to go through this public ordeal.
Jules Wainstein, 35, and husband Michael Wainstein, 44, are currently going through a bitter divorce shortly after the first season the stars premiered on ended its season. Jules’ camp alleges that Michael’s indiscretions with another woman led to the demise of the marriage. Michael’s camp claims that in 2012 Jules physically assaulted her husband, which she denies. Jules had petitioned a Manhattan court to order Michael to pay $25,000 a month in spousal and child support and $200 a week in groceries for the wife and the couple’s two children.
Michael agreed to pay the grocery bill but contested the amount of child support. His attorney claimed that the publicity of the couple’s divorce has been having a negative impact on Michael’s businesses. Additionally, the couple is financially struggling with heavy credit card debt and with an investment property that they own that has not been rented out. The couple is still living in a home in New York. The judge ordered the parties to stay in their respective areas of the home while their divorce is pending, emphasizing their young children’s need not to see their parents’ tension with each other. Jules is occupying the top two stories of the home while Michael is on the lower level.
Judges take a variety of factors into account when making child support determinations. Parents who are involved in a dispute may want to speak with their respective family law attorneys in order to see what the potential outcome could be.
