California fans of Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale might have heard that the two are in mediation because of disagreements about how to raise their three sons. The two split up in 2015 two years ago.
The boys spend the majority of their time in Los Angeles with Stefani. During that time, Rossdale has been on tour with his band, Bush, and also appeared on the TV show “The Voice” as a judge. However, reportedly, now that he is back home, he wants to spend more time with his children.
Stefani is now in a relationship with the country singer Blake Shelton, and reports are that the children get along well with him and that they all vacation together. Sources say Stefani feels her home is a more stable environment for the boys and that she and Rossdale disagree about parenting priorities. In an interview, Rossdale once touched on the challenges of single fatherhood by making reference to the fact that he had to create a home for the children that would compare favorably with the one they had.
An ideal situation for divorced parents is one in which they have similar priorities and can agree on consistent rules between households, but this is not always possible. A parent may struggle with finding a balance between supporting the child’s relationship with the other parent, which experts generally agree is in the best interests of the child, and making sure the child gets the best care while with that parent. In cases like these, mediation can be helpful because it allows parents to work through conflict and reach an agreement with the help of a neutral third party.
